O mnie

I am sat at my harpsichord - waiting for the muse to tell me what to put in my profile - wreathed in the mystic fumes of a Gauloise, gazing out across the green fields of Somerset from my cottage window and pondering whether I should compose a lay or, perhaps, a madrigal. Of course, if it turns out to be a madrigal, I shall only need the harpsichord for the composition, as you will probably know, dear reader.
Ah, I can feel a stirring. Can you? Words are coming to me. Many, many words.

You'd best have a sit down.

My name is Lee. I'm ancient, like Pan and, as I'm not originally from Somerset, I don't indulge in the usual Somerset rites of incest, but I do like a good sacrifice.

Things that tickle my fancy are: literature; film; good conversation; photography; music. I'm hoping to be able to play the guitar vaguely competently before I'm sixty. I have more chance of a cruise on the Titanic, frankly.

I adore reading. I'm a book snob, I'm not afraid, and wallow in beautiful language and well written work. It's solitary, but I do put books down and enjoy speaking to human beings, too. In fact, I can often be found spending many sun-soaked hours on my yacht, laughing gaily at the humorous prose of my favourite authors and tossing the book into the harbour with reckless abandon if I believe the person yelling at me to put some clothes on might, in fact, be a good conversationalist.

There could well be fibs in the last paragraph. You decide.

I DETEST football. Just so you know.

I have been known to leave sonnets on answering machines or, indeed, recite 'em loudly in public (Sainsbury's, parks, pubs, libraries, funeral parlours, etc).

I cannot rest until I have found le mot juste. Or my keys.
