About

My name is Stephen and I have worked as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language since 2003 in Germany, although I have now relocated to the UK back to my home town of Billingham in the North East of England. Prior to that I studied philosophy at the universities of Wales and Sheffield, up to research degree level. I consider myself to be a warm and loyal person, who places a high emphasis on trust in a relationship. Although I do have a "serious" side to my character, I also like to have fun most days (well, a little bit...), mostly by doing silly stuff from time to time (like talking to sheep in their own language - i.e. bleating at them!). I think it is rather hard to describe one's own character, since it is hard to know really well how others perceive you and, perhaps also importantly, to be able to recognize and to be honest about one's own character. In any case, the only way to find out is to talk to me (I don't bite, I promise) and to work out for yourself.

Looking

First of all I'm looking for a serious and long-term relationship and, at my age, am not interested in messing around just for the kick of it. I would love to meet somebody that values loyalty, is kindly and compassionate and who wishes to share their life with somebody on the same wavelength.

My Interests

I have quite a wide compass of interests, ranging from travel and exploring nature, to current affairs (particularly the recent "Occupy" movement demos) to music (mostly the classical tradition but including more modern music as well). I am also fascinated by cultural differences, which has no doubt been spurred by the extensive time that I've spent recently teaching English to non-native speakers (mostly Germans, but also Russians, Poles and a host of other nationalities, too).

The paranormal is also a very important interest that I am pursuing at the moment.

Just ask me about for more information on this - I love to talk!
